For the 2010-2011 school year, Lamb's Gate offers Kindergarten through 5th grade classes.
Harcourt Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science are the core curricula for our elementary program. Sensory and motor activities are incorporated into the learning process to meet the needs of all types of learners. Key elements of our elementary program include:
•Language Arts: We provide an integrated curriculum that fosters communication skills, perspective taking, and creative thinking. We teach reading through a combination of phonics and whole language strategies. Students are also provided with opportunities for self-expression through writing, sharing ideas with classmates, and drama. The Handwriting Without Tears curriculum is continued to reinforce fine motor and penmanship skills.
•Math: We provide a variety of hands-on learning activities to develop a strong framework of math skills. “Snack math,” graphing, money concepts, and categorization activities provide practical and fun applications of math concepts. In addition, traditional pencil and paper activities are incorporated to further reinforce math skills.
•Science: Students learn about God’s amazing creation through classroom instruction, data collection, experiments, problem solving, and exploring the world around us.
•Spiritual Development: We provide academic Bible instruction through daily worship times, in-class learning, and memorization.
•Special activities (including art, music, P.E., Spanish, and motor lab) are provided for elementary students on a weekly basis.
